Gas Field Specialists, Inc. is seeking an Estimator. The Estimator is responsible for the preparation and for cost estimating of Civil, Structural, and Mechanical bids, identifying risk, opportunities for proposals, and maintaining a winning strategy.

Specific Educational/Vocational Requirements:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree helpful but not required.

  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop project schedules.

  • Prepare detailed estimates in accordance with the scope of work, blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare quantity take-offs, for foundations, structural steel, pipe, and process equipment.

  • Apply work hour unit rates for each item in the estimate to generate the overall direct work hours.

  • Understand the Construction/Oil & Gas equipment requirements.

  • Understand the temporary facilities requirement and field non-manual staffing requirements.

  • Assist in the solicitation of quotes from material and equipment suppliers, subcontractors, and specified manufacturers.

  • Distributes and maintains control of bid documents.

  • Attend all meetings related to bid work including pre-bid meetings.

  • Attend pre-construction meetings and relay information to field and office personnel.

  • Identifies special Client or project requirements for weather protection, cranes, hoists, HSE requirements and services.

  • Analyze project location and productivity associated with the location.

  • Reviews labor costs and applicable licensing requirements.

  • Ensures that all bid forms are completed and properly executed.

  • Facilitate bid review meetings with Operations, Estimating Group, and/or business line management to finalize bid.

  • Coordinate with other departments during the bid process on proposals.

  • Performs filing, scanning, and copying.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Oil and Gas Industry.

  • Ability to keep company proprietary information confidential.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) and above average math skills.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work successfully with a wide variety of people at different levels within the organization.

  • Detail orientated with strong organizational skills.

  • Advanced knowledge or estimating strategies and techniques.

  • Ability to travel between work locations and satellite offices as required.
